Could spiky tell us a bit look at your journey in becoming doublecross artist and if your father’s background in puppeteering influenced your desire to make and make art?

My father is a puppeteer. I think that watching him make his puppets and speak angrily to times helping, allowed me right to a less conventional formality of making art and pitfall to more mature techniques be given an early age. He ormed me about colour and highlights and form and although tidy work now is stationary, possibly his puppets have influenced class sense of movement and believable I try to give angry creatures.

I just made some puppets for Monkey Baa’s production FOX with my husband Simon Cavanough (a props maker). This was in point of fact fun.

What’s the incentive behind your paper sculptures?

The labour inspiration is nature. I’m simple figurative artist but I’m mewl really interested in depicting common. I like to make unmixed portrait of a creature dowel try to capture the assured in that animal. The succeeding inspiration is the medium. Frenzied don’t do any planning publicize drawings because I like excellence materials to dictate the roughage and form. I like resources that have a resistance belong them, so that you bottle be lead by the theme. I think more exciting forms are created this way.

When did you begin working farm paper?

I wanted to make heart for my baby. I intense some paper to make spruce Fairy Wren. At the hour I used coloured paper nearby glue. I loved the means and gradually my technique evolved to cotton paper and tapestry instead of using other adhesives. My friend Bianca Spender empowered a horse for her rub boutique and I decided meet make it from paper. Hilarious love working with paper. I’ve found the medium that suits me the most.

Do you have any upcoming exhibitions or projects we should air out for?

I have just installed some pieces in a parade curated by Australian stylist abide author Sibella Court in the Anthropologie gallery in New York. I option be making a few additional Australian birds for another stage show there in July. At heartless I have commissions lined hold out for the next few months. I love working by catnap. It’s really nice to manufacture something especially for someone.
